Summer 2007

What summer?? I think we went from spring straight through to autumn don't you? but i suppose we do have the rest of August and all of September to look forward too.

So what have we been doing while my PC was broken, just carry on reading and you shall find out.

We shall start with May. It was our 10th wedding anniversary on the 3rd of May, I surprised Steve with a song request on the local radio station for starters then made him a meal once he came home from work Awww it must be love LOL.

I had handed in an application form for a job at our local supermarket only to get a letter 2 days after telling that i was on file for the next 6 months (typical)

Fudge (the rabbit) had to go to the vet to have his teeth shaved down £60 flipping eck (well actually it wasn't flipping eck but did begin with the letter F). I'm looking back in the diary i have in front of me and I'm only on the 13th May and it's rained every day so far. Any how on the 13th I (Tracy) started to paint the living room while the weather was bad. Oh look I'm on the 18th and the sun was shining  so i was out in the garden just pottering around weeding and tending to my plants and veg, i created a new flower border, Steve made us a new TV cabinet and we got shut of the old one on Freecycle (now there's a brilliant website, find the link to it in the links page).

23rd i got all the hanging baskets out. The laminate in the living got put down by the weekend then we made a start on the new rabbit run which is attached to the hutch itself. The sun is still shining.

By the end of May i had started to suffer from panic attacks yet again, i was having them everyday for around 2 months (until the pills kicked in)

June now and it's 7 yrs ago since my dear mother passed away i still miss her, she would have been 74 this time. On the 10th we had a massive thunderstorm which took the power out for at least 3 hours it even made the local news and papers it was that bad and Stevan slept through it as for me i was out tending to the animals and trying to keep the dogs calm as well as myself because i hate thunder at the best of times but this was just unbelievable. The day after it was very muggy (warm and sticky) but that didn't keep me out of the garden, there was too much to do so i just got on with it planting the rest of the flowers out and even got around to another new flower bed. from the 12th we had no sky TV until the 15th (what a load of poop there is on normal TV). Back to the garden and a new path was born and Steve made a windmill for the garden (pictures will be coming soon under the heading garden 2007 on the top of the page)

24th June and disaster struck.....the hallway ceiling fell in due to a leak in the flat roof, we rang the insurance up ASAP it took them a week to get here the guy who came took a couple of photos and said to me that the insurance lot would be in touch, Oh yes they got in touch alright only to tell us that they wasn't going to pay for it so Steve got some bitumen paint stuff and patched the hole up best he could for now until we can afford to get someone in to do it for us (why pay insurance If they wont pay out). since the roof leaked it rained for 5 days none stop then we had just taken delivery of 500ltrs of oil for the heating when we found that the boiler had sprung a leak, leaking oil all over the garage (that's where the boiler is). Into to July now and on the 3rd the boiler got fixed £64.

Yorkshire and South are flooding thank god we didn't get to move to Lincolnshire after all. Our hearts go out to you all who got flooded and we hope your insurance give you some money to get back on your feet and back in your homes soon.

Meanwhile the sun is shining yet again, the garden is coming on a treat as too is the veg garden, it's looking like a bumper season for us here. 22nd we made a start on the deck rail and made a wee path to the decking, the willow is shooting up now and soon we'll be able to clip the two sides together to make our willow arch. 24th and my PC made it to the computer shop at last 26th i went to the hospital for an x ray on my knee have to wait 10 days for the results but not had anything back yet. 30th the day i get my PC back yippie god I've missed it although i did have Steve's PC or the laptop to work on but you get used to your own don't you?

August

The first and it's our 4th year at Werain Cottage the weather wasn't anything like it was 4 years ago when we moved in the temp was 30/35, now that was one hot summer nope not this year it was cloudy raining until late afternoon and very windy it was more like January than August.

I got my bicycle out and now go out on it everyday riding around the outskirts of Peterhead and lost a stone in weight.

We have started to harvest our veg and like i said earlier it's a bumper crop this year, I even got some cauliflower this time, I have been trying to grow them since moving here with no luck but this year i did it (it must be all that chicken poop). The weather has turned warmer now and the garden is looking great and I have just caught up to today's date, I have just one thing to tell everyone and that is that i have just been offered a position in the staff kitchen in our local supermarket, remember i said above in May that i had an application for in well they rang on Tuesday 14th i had the interview on 15th and on the 16th i was offered the job, I'm so pleased, as too is Steve and all our friends  here in Peterhead and family/friends back in Yorkshire, I don't have a start date yet but it will be sometime soon.

Right folks that us up to date for now we are on Friday 17th August and it's cold out.

Oh just one more thing I'm going to be uploading some recipes so keep a look out for the link to them on the top of the pages also the garden this summer photographs all this coming soon

Diary update time 30th Aug and Tracy has just one more day of freedom before setting off to work, yes folks it's a new month on Saturday and a new job for me, after a 10 year break and 12 years since i worked in catering, I'm really looking forward to it and it's certainly going to make a change from gardening everyday although i do love the garden and I'll still have time to tend to it on my days off. The nights are drawing in now it's only 8pm and it's dark out (it will soon be winter)

Ok folks that's all the summer months caught up with, I hope you enjoyed reading this diary keep a look out for September where I'll probably be talking a lot about my new job.

By for now
