March 2007

March started brilliant with sun and blue skies all around (wonderful)

5th Trace planted the onion sets and had a dig about until my back went yet again.

7th I tried a new to me recepie in the slow cooker (steak & ale pudding) very nice, once that was in the cooker i went and sowed some broccoli, peas, runner beans, more broad beans and spring onion seeds.

10th we chopped the rest of the tree trunks up that Steve brought home last year.

The hens are starting to lay, we now get 6 a day of them and the 6 ducks everyday.

Last years compost heap is now ready for putting onto the veggie patch of which we started to do last night (12th).

From the 12th until the 17th the weather was sunny and dry but still cold on a night time.

The plastic greenhouse Steve made last year has now turned into a shed. 17th and Tracy is sorting out the 2 spare rabbit hutches  ready for guinea pigs.

18th It's SNOWING yay woo hoo ok so i get excited when it snow's so what, weather forecast said blizzard conditions we are still waiting for the blizzards, it snowed on and off until 20th plus the wind picked up.

22nd and it's off to the dreaded dentist for Tracy (tooth out...ouch). Kim had to visit the vet because her ear was swollen, turns out it's a haematoma, so she was given some ear drops and another visit on the Monday for it to be drained YUK. The 22nd was nice and sunny as it was for the rest of the week.

24th We got 2 guinea pigs from our local rescue centre The New Arc. We are calling them Ginger & Biscuit, here they both are

So the total number of animals is now

1 Cat, 3 Dogs, 2 rabbits, 2 Guinea pigs, 14 Chickens and 8 Ducks Oh and 6 Fish in the pond.

26th we started taking the fence down by the pond so that we can move it back towards the hedge all this is due to Storm escaping through holes in the hedge once he's jumped over the pond that is. It was sunny all day too. 27th the morning started foggy but then by lunchtime it had cleared same goes for 28th. 29th was chilly and foggy again but at least it's still dry, Trace finished putting the fence back together, you should see storm now, he just can't find a gap to escape hahahaha.

Blacky laid an egg yippie the first egg off her for 18 months

Total egg count for March is 161 duck and 133 hen.
