January 2007
Hello & welcome too a new year 2007 where we hope to bring you the up's &
the down's of 2007 (more up's we hope)
The New Year started stormy as i think did
the whole of the UK, it's cold & has been wet some of the time although this
last few days the weather has been quite sunny but windy with the chill in
the air.
At last the hens have started to lay again
after a 2 month break due to them going through their yearly moult, 2 of the
new chicks that we hatched in the summer are laying as too are 2 of the duck
we also hatched, up to now we get 4 duck eggs a day and 3 or 4 hen eggs
(anyone got any egg recipes?)
We now have the pot belly stove installed in
the back room ....only one mishap so far with it but all is well although it
does spook Tracy when she lights it in a morning. Steve now has the job of
building a surround for it.
Bereavement in the family here at werain as
of 18th TRACY was starting to clean out the fish tank in the living room
firstly taking out the fish £50 worth she then put them in a bowl of water
and carried on emptying the tank into a large pan and taking outside once
back in the living room looking at the bowl (EMPTY) AND SEEING 3 VERY GUILTY
LOOKING DOGS sat on the sofa Oops who out of these 3 dogs have eaten all the
fish. Steve came home later that day to be told the sad news of a dog that
had eaten all his fish, he was gutted.
At the beginning of the year Tracy had found
a new website called Free Cycle this site has been setup for people to use
to get shut of things that would normally end up in landfill sites, we are
now the proud owners of 2 knitting machines and not a penny past anyone's
palms, click on the free cycle link to find out if there is a
free cycle
going on in your area. We will also be the new owners of a dishwasher
from yet another kind recycler a friend of a friend only thing is we will
have to lose 2 cupboards in the kitchen but I'm sure Tracy will find a new
place for them to go.
The cottage is having a facelift slowly but
surely this year firstly it's the kitchen (still only half painted then
laminate flooring through the whole cottage.
22nd Saw the arrival of our first snow in
Aberdeenshire, but not too much this time, there is more forecast over the
coming weeks.
The end of the month saw the weather turn a
little better but still with a chill in the wind.
We was very busy last weekend in Jan due to
Steve making a shoe rack out of the wood he gets from work also i made a
spice rack from some of the wood, the cupboards that we lost in the kitchen
due to the dishwasher found a new home in the kitchen.
Monday 29th and Trace bought our veggie seeds
from Lidl ready for the coming season also onion sets from Focus.
Steve took sammy to the vet (she has wet
eczema) poor wee thing she does go through the wars does that one sometimes,
she had a course of tablets and some cream.
The kitchen painting is now done and is
waiting for the laminate to go down.
Duck eggs 75 hen eggs 37 for this month
That's it for this month folks see you in
February.
