February 2006

This month we shall start off with wishing Happy Birthday to the following people

To Rachel (10th), Maggie (13th i think), Sharon (17th), TRACY (yes that's me on the 21st) and Tracy's brother David (23rd). If there are anymore birthdays for Feb let me know and I'll put you on the list. Oh also Happy Wedding Anniversary to Rachel & Craig.

January finished cold the temperature on 31st Jan got down to -10, that day also saw the 2 hen's we have separated lay an egg each although we haven't had anymore as of yet. 1st Feb, we ordered our new fire costing £1028 + £250 for installation which should be up and running by the end of this month. 2nd saw our first egg off Orange the Orpington duck, we are not sure how long she will lay for but as from today we are getting 3 duck eggs everyday, the eggs are selling well now we have a notice out. Steve took the jeep to get a service on Friday 3rd so we have no car this weekend, Steve also found that one of the back tyre's was bald (new tyres less than 12 mth old) so something is wrong there, More money to pay out on the crap jeep (not amused).

I'll do updates every 7 days so keep a look out for the next instalment to February.

It's now the 14th, No card no flowers oh well never mind, So what's happened since our last log, well we didn't get the jeep back until the following Thursday and we are still waiting for the guy to ring us to say that he now has the fuel filter, the service cost Steve £340 (disgusting, the price of things these days), on the 5th Tracy put bubble wrap in the greenhouse ready for sowing seeds for the summer, on the 8th it was forecast snow which it came at 5.45 pm and went at 5.46pm so much for blizzard conditions although it was pretty nippy, on the 10th we took Storm and Sammy to the vet Storm for his monthly check up and Sammy for her weight which resulted in her having to go on a diet, while in the vet Sammy was making a fuss so Tracy crouched down to calm her when it came for Trace to stand up again her knee locked up and ended up hobbling out of the vet with a nurse who was half the size of Trace (that poor nurse) by the time we had got home Trace was in agony with sorry to say tears running down her face, so I had to sit still (yeah right) and wait for my knee to heal. Oh by the way Storm weighs 34.5kg at 11 month old. The 12th which would have been Tracy's dad's Birthday (died 1994) bless him, anyway 12th we let all the ducks and chickens out of their runs so that they could play in the garden even Tinsel, we also moved Tinsel into his/her new house (an old dog kennel) into the garden with a run. 13th Happy Birthday Maggie, Tracy's knee is much better now although it does still feel funny at the moment. Steve started a diet on the 1st and has now lost 1 1/2 stone in just 2 weeks. Right I'll see if i get a card now because Steve has just been reading this (but not this bit hahahaha)  Ok that's it folks for now see you next week.

Update up to the 22nd, Steve has made a start collecting logs for our fire when it's installed so that meant clearing some stuff out of the garage to make for all the wood, 18th saw yet another new arrival to the gang....another cockerel this one is a Light Sussex, he has gone in the side shed with the 2 girls of which are now both laying for us and it's about time too (see what a threat of the oven does to them), we got him off Wayne & Debbie our friends in New Deer, there shall be a photograph of him on the chicken page later on......Oh and he's called Lenny. On the 21st it was my (Tracy) Birthday thank you to all who sent me cards and presents. 22nd we went for a drive into the Cairngorms (see photograph) the weather was lovely and sunny but by heck it was nippy. There will be a video clip of the snow topped mountains on the site shortly which can be found on the video's page. I see that Kelly (Tracy's cousin) has found the site chat ...next time Kelly ring the doorbell that way I'll know your there. So what about the rest of you using the chat programs we have, there is one for just family of which you shall need to know the username and password so if you no longer have that email I sent you just email me and I'll gladly give you it, the other two chats we have on the site can also be used privately so why not get them all checked out. Lastly congrats to Steve who has now lost just over 2 stone. Ok that's it for another week.

From the 23rd to 26th Tracy was suffering from really bad Migraine's, Steve spent most of the week finding and chopping up logs, on the 27th winter finally arrived and lasted 7 more days. Total eggs laid this month was 83 duck and 107 hen
