April 2007

Sunday 1st April and the weather is just fantastic sunshine all round it's just great.

We planted out more of our vegetables and sowed more seeds, we are rapidly running out of space in the veg garden so it's looking like we are going to be using the side garden for some stuff, everything is coming on really well now with all this good weather we are having.

5th Tracy made a run for the wee piggies so at least the rabbits and the guinea pigs can play out for the day instead of been stuck in their hutches.

We had to replace our pond pump costing £165 for the size of the pond we just hope this pump will last as long as the other one did (2yrs)

11th Tracy emptied the greenhouse ready for Steve to make some staging benches of which now are all in use.

13th we sold the VW Polo for £50 at least that thing is out of the way now. Steve had to go to the doctors about his blood pressure and is now on some different pills for it. We too Fudge to the vet to see what was up with him the result being his teeth, he had to go back at a later date to have his top left molar and the bottom right molar shaved down, his fur loss on his belly was a mystery to start with until Tracy did some surfing on the net and found that he was moulting, MOULTING rabbits yes folks rabbits moult, wild bunnys moult twice a year but pet buns only once a year, it was news to me too, here is a photo of his belly.

Poor Fudge

The rest of the month is spent in the garden fixing fencing and making stuff out of wood, sowing more seeds and potting on those wee seedlings...it's all starting to take shape now and  the sun is still shining although we did have just a couple of days of fog

I think i have managed to stop one of the hens from going broody by taking the eggs she keeps sitting on, she even sat in the duck shed on 6 duck eggs.

Total egg count for April was 158 duck and 185 hen what a bumper month April was.
